BEG - Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings
The Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings (BEG) is a central grant program aimed at improving energy efficiency in the building sector. This goal is achieved through low-interest loans from the KfW (Germany’s state-owned development bank) with repayment grants. The renovation to an Efficiency House is granted, with various Efficiency House levels defined - the lower the Efficiency House level, the better the building’s energy performance.

Efficiency Levels
✔️ Efficiency levels 70 to 40 are eligible for funding, supplemented by the Efficiency Building Monument
✔️ Repayment grants range from 5% to 25%
✔️ Ensure that all formal requirements are strictly adhered to for a smoother application process and to optimise the chances of securing funding
Funding Rates
✔️ Funding rates of up to 70%, including bonuses for serial renovation or individual renovation roadmaps
✔️ “Worst Performing Buildings” (WPB) are also eligible for an additional bonus up to 10%

Eligible measures include insulation, heating system upgrades, the use of renewable energy sources and the optimisation of existing systems – with funding rates of up to 70%. Especially interesting: Since 2024, the BEG program has offered long-term, low-interest loans to companies with a taxable annual income of up to € 90,000. Energy consulting expenses– a key element of any efficient renovation – is also subsidised by up to 50%.
